its the hankist again with another ???-i like the sod buster pattern very much-but since not all the companies that make one call it a sod buster,it is hard for me to search online and find them-i keep finding companies that make them-one by one-does anyone collect them or know enough about them to tell me most (if not all)the companies that make them???...please help!...~~~the hankist~~~

Boker makes some (Gaucho and Cinch sodbusters), Kissing Crane (Brown Mule (one of my favorites)), Queen Cutlery (Country Cousin), German Bull (Dirt Buster), German Eye (sodbuster), Bulldog Brand, Rough Rider actually makes one that is better than you would think it would be. And of course there is always Case. Here's just a few, hope it helps.

J Thomas's list is very accurate, Ka-bar, L.L. Bean(made by Ka-bar), Herder, Henckels, and Otter brand have also made them in the past, and there are still some around to be found.

Jthomas' list pretty much sums it up but you can go to Smokey Mountain and type sodbuster into their search engine. You'll get a lot of hits.

And you're right, "Sodbuster" is the name for the Case brand knife but many retailers refer to similar knives from other companies as sodbusters.

I think the sodbuster knife selection basically boils down to large or small size, carbon or stainless blade, natural or synthetic handle, and handle color. Once you figure out what features you want it will be easier to narrow down your choices.

Here is my sodbuster collection:
Case Sodbuster Jr. CV
Kissing Crane Brown Mule
Queen Country Cousin D2
Eye Brand Sodbuster Jr.

Case used to make theirs with a liner lock, but I haven't seen one for a while. Are they still available?

I don't know about Case (I personally haven't seen one, but they may well exist) but Rough Rider makes one with a liner lock. I'm not a big Rough Rider fan, but the soddie I have by them is actually a very good knife, especially considering the price point.

well thank you all very much-my uncle died recently and my mother brought me a case sod buster jr. from his house -i looked on the case site and was able to date it to 1974-and i now have a stronger interest in them (i love the simplicity)and want more of them!!!...~~~the hankist~~~
