Another forest trip with my knives.

I was lucky enough to find time to go for another forest trip this weekend. Of course my BATAC was with me. This time I took also my Sarsquatch. The forest looks amazing in this time of the year. If you have a forest nearby - go walk your Busses :D

The mushroom in this pic is called "Kania" in Poland and it's one of the tasties mushrooms IMHO:

Tree Herder, those pictures are beautiful. You're very fortunate to live somewhere like that - I'm sure you know that already.

We've just got back from a walk over the hills near us - mile after mile after mile of... hills and sheep. Not a tree to be seen. I love trees.

Still had a couple of Busses (ASH-1 LE, Cultie) with me just in case a sheep turned nasty.

I love the mountains this time of year. I live in Western NC and it is beautiful here and is only getting nicer!!

As to the mashrooms - the one called "kania" tastes the best when you first dip it in a fresh (I mean uncooked, unfried etc.) egg, roll it in breadcrumbs and then fry it on a pan like a pork chop but with butter! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
Porcini mushrooms are best dried and then added to sauces and soups.

But the best (and sadly not very common where I live) mushroom is this one - called "rydz" in Polish. I was fortunate to find a couple during las hike. They are best fried with butter :thumbup:

I am a fan of your knives, but probably like the way you descibed 'shroom cooking better. Me likes 'shrooms, especially the magic type...
 
Tree Herder, great photos. Not to rub it in but we have lots of Rydz out here in British Columbia. In english they are called Chanterelles "I'm sure I goofed on the spelling". As for the Porchini's they are also one of my favorites. I like using the dried ones in my soups. Hmm knives and mushrooms.......doesnt get much better then that. :)
 
Mushroom collecting kinda scares me. I would rather go to the store and by them instead of accidentally eating a "magic mushroom" with bad effects. I'll eat other things from the wild, just not shrooms.

Nice blades though! :thumbup:
 
Great scenery! How do you get those big pictures to show up? I have some nice ones but they are too large to load.
 
Very nice photos! (I like the earlier ones as well).

Do you have any action photos of you using or cutting/chopping results from the batac out in your forests?

I use photobucket.com to load the pics.

BIGBEAR: the mushroom called "rydz" is not the same as Chanterelles. Chanterelles are much moer common and yellow. Rydz is called "Lactarius deliciosus"

abchopper:
BATAC cuts very well - it has fairly thin blade - as for a Busse of course and it's flat ground. Due to it's dimentions it's not a chopper but it's big enough to do some chopping if needed (some wood for a small fire for example). If you have to split larger pieces of wood you can batton the BATAC through it. :thumbup:
