I thought if someone had seen a knife like this that was more legible they may recognize who made it. Looks like "Something Cutlery Co. thanks;

That's a tough one. Based on the geometry of the arched name, with the O in CO lined up with the lower part of the K in York, the first letter would be lined up with the lower part of the N in New. It's hard to make out, possibly S. The second letter looks more like R to me, but it's really hard to tell.

It looks like S, then an H or R, then a U or O. If it is SHU it could be a Shulz or Shultz, which might be common names. It looks like there were a lot of numbers below the "New York" too, or maybe some little letters and numbers.

Looks like BROWNXXXXXXX CO - NEW YORK!!

I think that nailed it, thank-you for all the detective work guys.
So someone made the knife for Crown though, that was not a maker, just a retailer. I wonder who they got their knives from???
