My Saatisal handled Foxy got here yesterday. I agree with everything Satori said. The knife is incredibly light and fast. The handle is well shaped and fits my largish hand perfectly. The scabbard fit is ideal:just enough to retain it well without impeding the draw. The overall fit and finish is top notch. There is some leather wrinkling on the rear of the scabbard and a fairly large dent in the chape. The box it came in was undamaged so this didn't occur in shipping. These are minor issues.
Please keep in mind that I am not a martial artist and I am also a relative newcomer to HI khuks. Despite this, I can understand why Satori was reluctant to give his FF the acceptance test. The thinness and lightness of the blade really seem to make this khuk more suited as a weapon than a tool. I would be extremely hesitant to do the sort of chopping with it that I would do with, for instance,my BAS.
When Yvsa posted this knife I fell in love with the white Saatisal handle. It sorta made the khuk stand out from the crowd. My wife, who values aesthetics, made the comment that it looks like unfinished oak. I must say that she is correct. I have no experience with this wood,my other wood handled Khuks are Chandan. I am considering giving it a couple of coats of linseed oil to darken it, The handle is wonderfully grippy as it stands and I don't wish to compromise that.
I would appreciate input from more experienced forumites in reference to Saatisal.
BTW I've been swinging the knife around compulsively ever since I received it. The handling characteristics are THAT good!
