I can't express just how well things have been going for me lately. I am finally working for a department that I really like, I have a healthy new baby boy, and I am finally getting my head above water. I want to share my happiness...
I started making knives (trying to anyway) about 1 1/2 years ago. I am still learning everyday. I don't feel comfortable enough to start charging for my work, but hopefully that day will come soon.
I made a small fixed blade about a year ago. The knife was inspired by the Anso Pocket Scalpel and some other great neck knives that I have seen. The knife is really rough looking. By rough I mean that I wanted to try making a knife without using any power tools. I was going to sand it smooth, but the rough, pitted, look kinda grew on me. Remember, this is a totally amateur piece.
The overall length is about 5 1/4", and the handle is cord wrapped in OD green paracord. The steel is 01 heat treated by myself. I thought this would make a great neck knife, or a horizontal carry hideaway knife. I have a crappy leather sheath that I made just to try it out, but it really needs a nice leather or kydex sheath.
The last giveaway knife went to a new member (registered less than 6 months). I want this knife to go to someone who has been here awhile (registered longer than 6 months). Here is the catch... You can't have the knife for yourself. You must nominate a fellow forum member that you think deserves it.
I will ship it to the first member's name that is posted. Use the honor system...member longer than 6 months; someone who deserves it.
