Another general Q: Blur low rider clip

I know that STR manufactures custom clips for people that want low-riders, but I wanted to try the mass produced line (eg, cheaper) first. I have a Kershaw Blur and I ordered an TI 'low rider' clip from USAknifemakers' website. The holes are too close together. Has anybody actually switched out their Blur clip for a low rider from a mass producer site? Not a blank that they had to drill themselves, but one that actually fits out of the box.

Thanks!

Have you tried taking a Dremel tip to your clip to "expand" the holes to fit?

No...I've never done any kind of metal mods to a knife and I doubt I even have the right tools.

I thought maybe to simply switch one Kershaw clip for another, say, for something like the one on the Echelon, which I own and which is a LR clip, but it's drilled very straight where the Blur's holes and clip are drilled angled. Can you think of any other Kershaw models that have an angled (in terms of the holes) deep carry clip? I think someone mentioned the Cryo but I'm not sure. If I could find one cheap I'd be willing to just buy another knife and pillage the clip.

Well the blur has the offset clip holes so your not going to find a store bought clip that works...

The cryo clip is a good option for lots of knives (I have one on my RAT-1 and my delica) but it won't work for the blur at all.

Do you own a drill? If so your easiest/cheapest bet will be to use the USAKM clip you have (great option BTW) and drill/tap the blur, you can use one of the existing holes and only need to add one. A drill/tap combo can be ordered for a few dollars and a tap handle is another few bucks, as long as you have a drill it should cost under $15 worth of tools, your other choice is use a MAPP gas or propane tourch to heat yours and bend it 180*.

I think STR makes low rider clips for the Blur? Or at least he used to...?

It might be easier just to buy once than buy several supplies and try to get it to work.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I appreciate CerealKiller's suggestion, but I'm just not handy enough to accomplish that without screwing up the scales :-p
