Another Gifted Knife

Another knife I was given but never used. Only reason I didn't use this one is because it came so late in my career, and I had already been using my Glock M81 Field Knife for years. I'd like to use the Cold Steel but really don't have any reason to. Appears to be a good knife. No stone has ever touched the bevel, and the blade has never cut a single thing. Don't know what I'll do with it. I'm torn on this one. I've already mailed four knives this week (one to the original gifter and three to friends I wanted to have a particular knife). No reason to rush into any decision on this one. I'll have to mull over this one.

I've been admiring the folks who are doing the giving. I have done this before in "lottery" style, and was not convinced by the results. My best bets have been gifting to relatives, our armed service-people who are deployed, and law-enforcement officers. I've had one police sergeant request that the gift knife might go to a young, broke, new officer (with 5 kids) who was carrying around a funky Chinese folder that presented more of a danger to the user. I was delighted to oblige, and was later informed (with pics) that the young officer was proudly showing his new ZT "to the boys" in the office. This type of giving...where I KNOW that I am gifting a "deserving" individual who "works in the field for our benefit"...makes me feel just fine.
Of course, I just hit 3,000 posts, so I'm thinking that this same sergeant, who runs a cop-shop and SWAT team out in our Midwest, will soon receive another USPS Priority flat rate box on his desk. I love it.
