Picked up this Canadian 'Welland Vale' a few weeks ago. Had some time in the work-shop yesterday so gave her a bit of a rub down. I don't have any work for her right now so have stopped short of a perfect chopping face. I just can't bring myself to take steel from and axe without good reason.

I took this 'old girl' to a fallen log for a bit of a workout. She's on a 36" haft. I think she would perform better on 32". Doesn't have the balance of a 3 & 1/2 pounder...But I sure like an axe with a bit of heft.

She aint as pretty as Matt's last project but she's still got class.

Very nice, Frank! I'd be curious to see some profile shots of some of your Tasmanian patterns...

I like your work bench, too.

Nice looking axe (and collection).

If I ever make it back to New Zealand and Australia, I'll be returning home with a lot of steel in my bags.

Hello Bear...According to Mary's kitchen scales she weighs-in at 6lb 6oz all-up.

That nose reminds me of my favorite boxer of all time...Rocky Marciano (The Brockton Block Buster) from Brockton Massachusetts.........But that's another story.

Thanks for the question. Good hunting...in all pursuits my friend.

regards...Frank.
