This is a hand-me-down from my grandfather. He passed away about 15 years ago and it was given to me but ignored in a box ever since. My new-found interest in traditionals made me take it out for a look. I barely know enough to have identified it as a Queen but that's about it. I see a "51" on the blade but it doesn't look like any of the recent patterns designated as 51.

Would anyone have any idea what period this may be from? As you can see it's pretty beat up so I probably won't be using it but I will hang on to it for sentimental value.

That's awesome you have your grandfather's knife. I wish I had a hand me down one from generations past. I plan on starting the tradition myself, maybe someday my future grandkids or theirs will be passing one of mine down. Maybe posting it on bladeforums 3014 lol. Your knife looks well used, excellent. thanks for showing it

addylo,
Nice looking folder with its fair share of " Good " use.
A little light cleaning and it will last for a few more generations.
I am sure it was with your Grandfather on a lot of memorable occasions.

Google queen knife stamps. You will get more than a few pages that gives tang stamp versus year used. It appears to be 1958-60. IIRC queen steel means 440C for that time period. The number on the blade is usually a pattern number. Queen recently changed hands, thus current patterns may not be the same as past ones.
