These are really neat little guys. 3 1/4" is a good size for me and I have a feeling I may end up with more.

My latest Boker is a 5252 Half Congress with smooth blue bone scales. This one has stainless blades.

A couple of questions to those in the know. I checked the book but couldn't find the answers.

What stainless was Boker (Germany ) using. I had assumed 420 but from what I read it is likely 440C??

What time frame is this Blue Bone scaled from? I have seen the 1980's but think it may be late 90's to early 2000's but not sure.

The requisite photos. These are from the listing and I'll have better ones once I have it in hand.

Received today; brand new so I dressed some sharp edges / corners off. It only took a few strokes on my AG Russell ceramic Sticks to shave hair on my arm.

Boy, Boker sure did a nice cobalt blue on these. In the sunlight it almost has depth to it. I have since cleaned that polishing compound from around the shield.

I don't know why I never looked at the Half Congress knives before.

I have this Blue one, a 5252, a dark green jigged bone one (United Boker UC126G) and I think I need one, maybe two more.

And I just got a Red jigged bone United Boker UC126R , Hopefully the USPS will actually get it to me.

Heard back from Boeker Solingen

The blades were approx. manufactured in the early 90s.
They were made out of 440C.

Kind regards

Nice collection of Bokers. They do occasionally use 440C, but those blades tend to be stamped or etched with the designation. And I have seen them mostly on their fixed blades. As for what kind of steel, I believe it may be 4116. Most of the Solingen German knives use this type of stainless steel. It is almost equivalent to 420HC.

Good to know. Boker of Germany is who says 440C. No matter as I like the knife. Most of my folding knives are Carbon steel and I let them patina but I have a few stainless ones.

You may already know, but most of the Boker's with carbon steel use C75.

And here is a Boker 4000 I own with 440C etched on the blade. Don't mind the speckling. It was dirty when I took the picture.

These Boker small Half Congress's are like potato chips; you have to have more than one. They all went into mt carry rotation and the carbon ones are getting a nice patina. I like them all but my favorite is the Green jigged bone one.
