Another idea for field carry

I don't carry a back pack, but often have my possibles bag. I modified the bag to carry a small field axe. Ignore the Dunlop in the photos below. :D

Field carry. This is about as long as the handle can be for convenient field use.

that looks like a very easy way to carry a kit on a day hike. nice job.
 
Hartzler & Knowles Indian Tomahawks & Frontiersmen Belt Axes pages 84-86 has several other 18th/19th cent. carry rigs on the Possibles Bag. It seems to have been really popular carry option back then. Mogwai, where did you get your possibles bag from. I like it.

Look's Good Mogwai, I seen some possibles Bag's on a Site just the other Day that had a built In Slot to slide the handle through, If I find the Link I'll post It, Thank's for sharing the pic.'s, Good Job & Take Care !

It's a shell bag from Duluth Pack. I used a nylon dog leash for longer strap and across-the-body carry.
 
I like that set-up. It really works for an evening stalk on the way home from work. I think I was doing about the same thing using a Gas Mask bag from Black Hawk in OD but I put a small "dog leash" stap that goes around my waist as well as a shoulder strap, it keep the bag from flopping around as much
