I build robots with a local school group for educational (and soda-dispensing) purposes.
Our most recent robot is made to climb steel poles, as a model for a bot that we want to climb telephone poles. The bot in question has exposed gears. It is not well-balanced right now.
Around 6:30 PM last night, said robot fell off the pole it was climbing. I caught the 'bot as it fell. Unfortunately, I had no gloves on.
Those exposed gears? Wow, you win the prize, yup. They were like

and managed to tear all the skin off the front end of my right thumb, right up under the nail too.
So, after the robot ate me, I cleaned the wound and bound it up with gauze, then put pressure on it.
By the time I go home (9:30 PM) the rip on my hand was still gushing.
So I wander into the emergency room around 10:30 PM.
They realize I need treatment at midnight.
Of course, they dip my hand in hydrogen peroxide, then put some gel-foam (closed-cell foam which turns into a gel on contact with liquid, then quickly congeals to seal the wound) on that. Add gauze, and I am back out the door.
I arrive home at 1:00 AM.
Next morning, I'm still bleeding.
I replace the gauze, and go to work.
Now, at 4:45 PM, (22 hours and 15 minutes later) I am still bleeding.
And now my thumb looks like this (my hand is pale because of the tight gauze and blood flow to the wound, and the house is cold because the pellet stove is not working):

The Ace bandage is there to secure the gauze, but that is what's going on.
Robot is goddamn dangerous.
What damage have you all received recently (bonus if a robot did it)?

Cylon stepped on my toe at the hardware store yesterday.

Wha'd I win?;)

(hope you heal up quick!)

If I were you, I'd toss that damn robot into a deep lake.:D.:D.
