I always enjoy seeing everyone's pics of their knives arriving in the simple brown packaging. Then the follow up pics of the unwrapping and finishing with the ultimate prize! There always seem to be a few threads running for this same reason and I certainly don't want to highjack those or take away from their excitement. I haven't started a thread like this until now. I'm not as good of a photographer as a lot of you here but I hope a few cell pics on my balcony will do.

We all understand the excitement level when you get home and see a Fiddleback Forge shipping box sitting in your mailbox. After opening the box we eye the brown wrapping, tied with twine and business card. Even the packaging is a work of art! :D

We VERY carefully tear into it knowing the quality of the edge that sits inside. I'm out of Fiddleback bandaids!

Slide off the blade sleeve and there it is ... Wow! To this day and many Fiddlebacks later, the first sight of one of Andy's knives still exceeds my expectations.

Green canvas over natural with a white pinstripe. She is a beauty! Thanks Andy!!

Beautiful!!!! Nice score man. :)

I think the wrapping is a real nice touch, very classy.

Is that 1/8"?

I agree completely about the wrapping but I'm of a simple is better mind set.

No it's 5/32"

Hi Dave,

That sure is a looker with sweet lines! I very much like it.

Mark

Nice score Dave, I love the OD! Yep, the excitement is always there. I think it's because Andy never stops improving on his little details.

I checked that one out a few times myself. Great score!

You guys may remember a couple Fridays ago Andy showed a pic of two 3/32 HB's that were spoken for. One was for him. Here's the other. My wife opened the package today, so I am only showing a couple of package fragments I salvaged.

This thing is so thin Andy's name is falling off the spine!

Loving it so far. I will have to do up a nice leather sheath for it one of these days.

Man, that tapered 3/32 is really something! As I was looking at it I got a mental image of a Woodsman with a full-height grind in 5/32 with tapered tang, a guardless ladyfinger in 1/8 with tapered tang, and a Hiking Buddy in 3/32 with tapered tang, all in S35VN, CPM 154, or ATS34, and having matching handles as the perfect kitchen set. Then I thought about the cost and especially the logistics of making that happen and was all like "quick, think about work! clear your head!". Then for the first time in years, I missed working in construction...as thinking about work really doesn't help me to not think about knives anymore... :D

That Hiking Buddy is a beauty! I'm looking forward to seeing it in action. That would be a great little paring knife.

Thanks on that. I really dig it too. I've got the 5/32 woodsman already but not a lady finger. Have a bushcrafter which I really enjoy, buy I'm looking for a Arete or KE Bushie in 1/8 with a scandi. Funny how much Andy's knives can consume your thoughts, huh? Am I the only one guilty of thinking of my next Fiddleback at night when I should be going to sleep?

Yes, Sir. My intention for this little guy is to be a very lightweight yet tough neck knife. Will have an axe or saw with me usually so this will just be for utility tasks with a few feathersticks and kindling prep, etc.

My Hiking Buddy is just a tad long and heavy to me for neck carry. I prefer my Runt. That particular HB, however, might be unique and be just right for neck carry. Weight shouldn't be an issue with a 3/32 blade. Should make a nice set up.  I'll be very interested to hear your feedback as you use it.

I'm planning on doing some review videos on my customs some time in the near future and you can be sure this one will be in the mix.

I remember! Love that burlap! :) The electric orange is quite nice. I got one from the same batch!

I remember your recluse as well. I thought the "electric orange" was going to be a little more, well "electric orange". Mine almost looks like a rust color, which works well with my name I guess. The metal threads in the burlap do give it some nice visual interest though.

Yes it is, and no you're not. And if it's just Andy then be glad. I have makers mentally placed in niches based on use of knives. So, I think about the next Fiddleback I'd want which is ever changing due to Andy always upping his game, then I think about the next Fletcher I'd want, as Dylan does more tactical type stuff....and there are a few others in different niches...Newt Martin and his hollow handles just recently joined the list of thoughts to interfere with my sleep as well :)

I think that Hiking Buddy will make an awesome full sized knife for a neck knife, and be far batter than ANY Mora :)

Nice looking Bushfinger you've got there!

That is one thin looking knife. Would be a great slicer in the kitchen.

Am I the only one guilty of thinking of my next Fiddleback at night when I should be going to sleep?

Thankfully every so often those dreams come true:

Hmm.... I like that EDKarda. African blackwood over nat can with a white pinstripe? Maybe I'll just have to *yoink* take that one for myself.

You can't prove I took it. I have an alibi!

You even stole my camera angle. ;)

Nice Knife. That wood looks like it's aging well. I need to get a picture with better light to show it off but there's been no sun.

Dave-

We kind of took over your thread, amigo. Is there another thread dedicated to showing off new arrivals? I know about the user photo thread. If there's not one (just arrived thread), maybe you should make a "Fiddleback - Just Arrived" thread that we can all add too. That will work us up into an even crazier frenzy waiting the last few days for Friday every week.
