I bought my second OD-1 flipper(the flipper lug fell off the last one within a few minutes of recieving it and flipping it a few times) and the flipper has side to side movement. Is this normal? Should I send it in? Everything else on the knife is perfect. I mean it has a nice centered blade and everything. What do you guys think?

They are meant to have that slight play in it. Just use and enjoy it! It doesn't make any noise, so it doesn't bother me.

Thanks for the responses but it's more than slight. With the slighest touch it jiggles. Are you guys sure it's normal?

Wait until I get home (I'm at school now) and I'll double check just for ya! There is a small philips screw for the actual unit (if you mean the cylindrical, checkered unit). If you mean the lever, then.... Phillip Dobson had some info on that.

Mines loose enough that when I give it a little shake, it rattles. I'm pretty sure they're suppose to be that way. Part of the Over Drive cam lever and all that......

Its normal and part of the design, there’s a great thread with a technical explanation of why that is complete with picks of the knife disassembled but I cant seem to find it.

Mine does it to , at first it was annoying but , hell it's such a cool knife !

I don't think they are talking about blade play but play in the flipper lever probably when the blade is closed.

My speed reading skills fail me once again! :D Good thing though, I was a little worried there for a minute....

Thanks for the link and pics! My only fear with this knife is if I ever have to take it apart and put it back together. There looks like a lot of parts.

For being my first time taking it apart it was a little challenging.
I've since taken it apart just to do some cleaning/lubing and found it much easier.

Thanks guys. One more question. The pivot screw loosened up pretty quick and I don't have any locktite. Will this be a continuing problem or will locktite take care of it? I haven't had this problem before so I'm wondering if I should exchange it or just wait for the 242 locktite I just ordered. Thanks.

The Loctite will fix it, but the male and female threads have to be squeaky clean for it to work. A wipe with acetone will remove most light contamination from the threads.
