Another khukuri thread from another forum...

that the practical tacticals are not people that I care to get into much discussion with. The sound so opinionated that no matter whether you are telling the truth or not there is no room for others opinions.

Don't tell this old man that you can't stab with some of these smaller khuks. They are also quite fast.:) :)

Yep, they do seem pretty snooty over there.

Let them buy the CS stuff and live in their own world. Any self-proclaimed expert who isn't willing to try before dissing a quality indigenious example don't get much credit from me.

I'm glad I hang out here.

I guess that they forget (for example) that a there is a whole segment of (now formalized) methodology using Japanese farmer's implements and common objects such as tree branches originally employed by peasants to defend against trained Japanese swordsmen and mounted warriors.

I think the peasants spent most of their time farming so that they could eat and pay the rent.

Genuine familiarity now matter how obtained is worth a lot.

Guys,
Serious time!! I have learned there are people like this everywhere! THEY "know it all"!! Jim,that won't work,YOU can't do that, you didn't fight fair,my favorite is,"I wasn't ready"!!I have learned to leave them alone & "Never argue with someone that has made up his mind"!My apologies for the rant! Sometimes ,I'm just not the funloving Duck nor THE SAINT!
Jim

If they want to take a Cold Steel "kukri" over an HI, it's their loss. When that gooey kraton handle fails on them, they'll realize their mistake.
After all, CS has a black coating and is therefore "tactical," so it must be better.

I have never seen any historical reference to a formalized manual of arms for the khukuri. The knife is primarilly a basic tool, and fighting is just incidental to its other uses. The knife has an effective range, a single edge, and a small sweet spot. If you can swing the knife to hit on the sweet spot the fight is over. The only traing you need to figure that out can be had from a 2x4.

:)

Does that mean those that are "dumb as a fencepost" can effectively use a khuk?

Maybe I made a right decision for once.

:p

I have this can of black paint.
Epoxy even.

As fun as it is spreading HIKV.
The fewer out there the more khuks for the rest of us. :D

Some people like Old cars (or whatever).
Some people like New cars (or whatever).

I just checked the thread and wasted a lot of time responding.

That's a thread waiting to knot your knickers.

No need to apologize. We didn't have to read it.

It was interesting reading the phonyveteran site. Wonder how much of THAT is true.

Also interesting to be reminded that some people just HAVE to be right. Must be wearing.

Yeah, I pretty much gave up on that one. I thought I was passing on some info, but I think the guy just wants to argue. Sheesh:rolleyes:
Now I remember why I spend most of my time on the HI forum.

Hope the guy enjoys his CS khuk with the ABA endorsement on the blade!
Having a dad who really is an emeritus professor helps to understand just what this high honor really is. Just wouldn't be forgotten by the school giving this honor.;)

Just to see what kind of comments were being made. I thought that I might have made some one mad with the comment I made.

Bruise, you did OK. It's just that some people think that they are just perfect and no one else knows a thing.

I'm just glad that I'm not the only one to not appreciate that sort of folks. I haven't strayed from this forum much at all. This deal makes me half afraid to check any of the gun forums.:)

Wow. I hope he doesn't decide to post a review and teach us all everything there is to know about khukuris, our heads might explode from all the information. :barf: 16 posts and no experience with khuks but he's got all the answers, and condescendingly admits that a few of us might have a few worthwhile ideas that happen to coincide with his own brilliance. Ah well, maybe after a few hundred posts here he'll learn to lighten up and listen to others.

Reading back through the thread,
it looked like he knew ahead of time
exactly what he wanted to say and
was just fishing for the right openings.
