Lately I've been looking for a certain folder, but it has to meet a few specifications:

All metal handle
Blade must be 3"-3.75"
Locking blade
Pocket-clip
One-hand opening
Weighs LESS than 3.8 oz.
Costs less than $75.00

I've checked out the Camillus EDC but it is just a little too small for my hands.
Others that I have considered are the CRKT aluminum M16, the CRKT aluminum Mirage, the Gerber Air Ranger, and the CRKT Apache.

So, what are your opinions on these knives and what other knives would you suggest?

Thanks,
Allen.

I think the Spyderco Police is exactly what you're looking for. I recall seeing knives from Spyderco that had a SS handle, and the thumb-hole for one-handed opening. Unfortunately, the blade was made of silly putty! :p

Seriously, I think that's the blade for you.

Good luck!

Sorry Doc, but it does'nt meet the requirements.
The Police model has a blade over 4" and weighs 5.5 oz (much too heavy).
But thanks for trying.

Good luck,
Allen.

I have a CRKT M-16,-14. It is a great user knife. Not the best steel, but it sharpens easily and takes a great edge. If you were to get an M-16, get one of the models like the military ones that have a coated blade. That steel is prone to rust spots and the coated model would most likely cure that. That is the only one that you listed that I have personal knowledge of. Another plus on the M-16 is the flipper. It makes for easy opening, even with gloves.

You might want to consider the CRKT M-18, Kit Carson design. The blade is AUS-8, a not bad steel. It comes in a version with a 3 and an eighth inch blade, with the LAWKS lock system. The price range is right and I think the weight is in the ballpark.

I think you should be able to find a nice used Benchmade 940 for around $75. Your only problem will be finding someone willing to part with it.:D It meets all of your criteria to a "T". You could just save up for a little bit longer.

Otherwise, I really like all the CRKT M-16's.

Good luck,
DD

I'd go with Knifenerd on the M18 since it's what's in my pocket right now--although the inlay/insert may disqualify it as an all metal handle (it's mostly metal).

My first choiice would be a Spyderco Vesuvius. I have a couple indifferent blades and it is a very slick Spyderco. Handle is slimmer than the Native and fits my hand well. Not sure about the exact blade length but it is right about 3-3.25 inches.
My First reaction would be to save your money and spend about $100 on s Benchmade 940/941. I was a major Spyderco fan until I tried the BM axis lock. Very smooth and strong. The BM Griptillian(sp?) is also an option in your price range but I have no personal experience with them. In your price range you will not be unhappy with a Spyderco. Just pick the model based on blade length.

Go getcha a Kershaw Ken Onion VaporII. I have big paws and it is perfection! It frame locks, flicks open easy and is sso cheap to buy you can't believe it!

So maybe it ain't got the best Wonder Steel. It is sharp enough as you get it, and can be even sharper!

EASILY the most under-rated bargain out there!

Joe Shmoe - as Cheap A$$ed a B@st@rd as you are EVER gonna find!!!
