I just took my Lil' Temperance apart because I got some grit in the pivot. I was suprised to see the washers, at first I thought they were phospher bronze, but they apear to be a paper thin nylon.
Does anyone know whey they are so thin? Basiclly the reason (design, funtion) why there that way, and if it is weaker than a bronze or full sized nylon washer. Do they require extra care?

I love the knife, and have no problems with it -I was just interested.

Also, Since I have mine set up for tip-up carry, it there a little G-10 cover so grit can't get in the pivot area?

Thanks,
Scott

Nylon washers are used in a lot of heavy duty applications with no problems. We use them inside SCUBA regulators that are exposed to 3000 PSI (Pounds Pers Square Inch) with no problems. They never get replaced either.

E.Z, thanks for the reply.

Anyone else had experiance with these washers? Also, I was wandering if the Lil' Temperance could be fitted with very thin bronze washers insted (a 'la Sebenza).

It looks as though there my be enough room for this Mod, as the handle separates a little bit when losening the pivot.

I was talking to Mick Strider about this at Blade West, and he does think that bronze washers add strenth but are not as smooth as nylon.

Does anyone else have any hard info. on these washers? (the ones on the Lil' Temperance).

Believe me, I LOVE this little knife, and I'm not flamin" or trollin' or any thing like that. Just interested.
