After reading Jerrys thread (INFI to the rescue) and a few other nuggets over time it seems he really likes the SJ for carry. Also the thread about the fallen Israeli commando suggested that it was their favorite blade.

I have one, but it was not my favorite by a long shot (BA has that distinction). I think now I'll have to carry it more and give it the chance it so obviously deserves.

What do you guys think about your SJ's?

Rob

I think I wish I'd been richer when they were still available. :(

It was my first Busse and still remains my fav.
I'll echo t1mpani's sentiment. Wish I would have snagged a few when they were made in 1/4. The only reason for the preference for quarter inch is I prefer that feel in my hand.

Mmmm....Satin Jack, me loves mines!!! Especailly my Black Jack it's one of my favs!!!

it looks to be (i dont own one :( ) the most all around edc blade of the lines. its thin enough for fairly easy penetration and insertion, its stout enough that its good for prying, and its length aids in that. its long enough for chopping, but not so long that it gets wily in the hand...
i tend to prefer to split my blades up and cary more then one, a battle mistress and an ad, combo's like that. but if your going for a trip out of town, and are going to be in city, carrying a battle mistress is kind of pointless... (not that that deters me :D)

I have a few SJs of varying thicknesses and configurations, but I have never used any to any extent. I plan on getting a new SJ and using it as an all around camp chore and light pack knife. I may put it in the truck for any emergency situation I come across. :D I really like the look and feel of the ones that are due to come down the line.

The SJ(3/16")is my camp knife. The right size between too big and too small. The blade thickness is a trade off between toughness and trying to cut veggies with a splitting wedge. So far it does the tasks I set for it with aplomb. I have other tools for chopping wood. It's a good all-round knife.

I like it lots!! :D

I really, really like like my JACK. It is my 5th Busse and by far one of the best IMO. The size is right there, the grind perfect and the feel is perfect. I think the only improvements could be to offer one a little thinner and very slightly wider handle. As is:: NO COMPLAINTS!! just had it in the kitchen last nite and wrapped the sheath in paracord the nite before.

Tim

HMMMM I haven't thought of the kitchen yet for it. It's the 1/4" version so that may be a bit thick, but the 1/4" NO worked fine. The NICK is 2 to 3 months off so we'll see.

I want to try it for EDC, but it's long enough where that might start to get tricky. Much more so than my SHBA. What kind of rigs do you guys favor for concealment?

Rob

I don't have a Satin Jack, but...............

there is a friggin cat in that guy's beard. Did anyone else notice that?

It is ground thin enough at the edge to be fairly decent at slicing. I ham and taters last nite. takes a little getting used to but works quite well. Peelin taters is a pain in the @$$ though. Dont have the opportunity to carry a larger fixed blade edc. Could pose a nice challenge though:D Leatherman?? :D

Tim

Rob, it's entirely too long for EDC. Too thick for slicing. I just don't think you'll be happy with it at all. You should just send it to me. I'll even give ya a little cash for the shipping. :D
