Good day to all.

I have another WIP made by Luis Chavez that I would like to show you.

Blade was made also by Mauricio Daletzky.

Truly incredible work. Thankyou for posting this. It's not very often we are fortunate enough to see the detail and work involved in creating such works of art.

Thanks Manuel! Your work has inspired me to take a look at more of this traditional knife style. I am completely amazed at the micro-thong goat leather braided ones that I found. Is this type of knife a must -have item for men in Argentina still today?

That is really beautiful! I do have a question, what stops the sheath from dulling the edge? Sorry, I don't know much about traditional metal sheaths. :o

Saxon, Im glad to hear that.
The woven thong handles are very common here, of course there are different qualities. You can find cheap versions in stores, made by thicker "tientos" (thongs) and some amazing work from some guys.
Look for "cabo tejido tientos" in google and you will find a lot of examples.

Thank you all for your comments

9blades: As I explained in the first Luis's WIP, when the sheath is ready he puts inside two pieces of 0,8 or 0,5 mm brass or nickel silver bent in opposite directions, forming two arcs on each side, with the belly facing the side of the blade. They run the entire lenght of the sheath, they call this "ribs" and they keep the blade tight and centered in its place. The blade never touches the inside of the sheath.
