Well, my Marksman 830 showed up today! Woohoo!! :D
Thank you Larry O!!

Here are my day one thoughts :)
Awesome fit and finish.
Perfectly centered.
Flips as sweet as sugar. Smooth smooth smooth.... Did I say smooth?
The pivot bearings are awesome!
Locks up like a bank vault.
Closed Blade retention is rock solid.
The edge grind is perfect and identical on both sides.
Sharp....very sharp.... hair popping sharp....shaved arm hair effortlessly.... shaved facial hair super.easily too :)
A huge thumbs up for this one!

There is even a sheet of use instructions included.

I prefer to carry a knife this size in a sheath on my belt, so I slipped it into a nylon Alpha Folder sheath I had laying around ;)
It fits in there perfectly.

And of course a quick facial hair shave test...... and it works great for that too :)
My usual shave test is on the way tomorrow ;)

Overall, I am extremely happy with the Marksman.
It just may get more belt time than my Alpha Folders

Nice! I've also ordered one along with some other knives. Looking forward to getting it.

It comes with a belt sheath?

Nope.... it comes with a clip.
I had an Alpha Folder nylon sheath laying around, so I am using that.
It is in the sheath, on my belt right now :)

On a side note, I got a Vantage Select the other day, and I am carrying it clipped in a front pocket.
The Vantage is being used to see if I like carrying that way.

Every since I got my first Vantage(of which I have 7-8 now) I've been hoping Buck would make more modern type folders in that same vein. The 830 looked like it fit the bill so, finally, I was able to handle one the other day at a local knife shop, and I was impressed. It opened buttery smooth, lock-up was super solid, centering was literally perfect, F&F was fantastic, and the blade was damn sharp! However, I just don't care for aluminum handles. They're cold, and most I've had in the past scratch too easily. I really wanted to add one of these to my collection, but I think I have to hold out hope that Buck makes an 830 with G10 handles.

But.., all these pictures are making the wait difficult!! lol :D

I want to get one, but I wanna hold it first, but thats like impossible around here

That would be sweet if they start making more variations of it! :)
I suspect it would be a while though......

Same here.... very few knives in the stores....

It is very comfortable in my medium sized hand.
The lockstrap is out of the way while gripping it, and the strap makes a great place for your thumb to get grip too.
Definately what I was hoping for!

Side by side comparison with the ever so popular Vantage 345.
Marksman has a little longer handle and longer Blade, and the Blade is taller too.
The Marksman has slightly more drop to the point.
Other than the straplock, they both seem to be the same in handle width.
They have the same pocket clip.
The Marksman feels much Beefier/Solid/Tougher in all respects, Flips much Smoother, and only weighs .3oz more!!
At 3.7oz for the Vantage, and 4oz for the Marksman, the weight difference is not noticeable.
The amount of real estate they take up in the pocket feels virtually the same.
If you love the Vantage, you will also love the Marksman.

And Vantage overlaid onto the Marksman to show blade difference.

I'm still loving mine. Had to adjust lockup recently but not a big deal. Rock solid again.

Awesome! I am glad they built in the adjustment capability :)
I am thinking I will carry this one quite a lot.
I am liking carrying it in a sheath.
BUT.... I do love my Alpha Folders, so belt time will eventually be getting shared.

Every time I look at one of these, it always looks like the lock would be uncomfortable on the top. Guessing this isn't an issue though.

Yep, the strap is not in the way at all.
In a normal grip, or any way I have tried yet, it is completely out of the way.
And it also makes a great flat spot for your thumb to get extra leverage.

Chris, nice one... It looks like your having fun it... I will get me one someday soon... ITE ...

Chris - thanks for your thoughts on this knife.

I have really enjoyed my Vantage Avid thus far and think that the Marksman might be a good step up in steel. Never had a problem with 154 - actually find it to be one of my favorites for everyday use.

Think Buck hit a home run with this knife.

I also really like their 154CM steel. It is great stuff.
Definately a Home Run to me, and I plan on using it a bunch.

Cool. Thanks for the pictures...

No Problem :)
I am a picture posting fiend....hahaha
