Another MAXX question . . .

I purchased the first MAXX 5.5 Bowie I ever saw. It was one of the first produced. Ladt weekend, at a gun & knife show, I saw and (naturally) purchased a MAXX dagger.

I noted the handle slabs are very slightly thinner than my first MAXX, but I recall reading that Camillus had difficulty finding a reliable source for the thicker slabs. No problem! The current slabs are plenty thick & strong enough!

My question (and it is obviously just a quesrion -- no complaint implied) is the texture/finish of the slabs. My original had polished slabs (still offering a secure grip, due to handle shape); the "new kid" has much more "textured" slabs, almost a sand-blasted finish. Although it wil probably be a "safe queen" (as I can't really envision the dagger blade slicing and cutting better than my bowie blade specimen), it actually would offer a more secure grip.

I don't recall reading anything about the handle finish being radically changed. Any input regarding this?

Overall construction and fitting was what I've come to expect from Camillus: OUTSTANDING!

In fact, I just read another thread that confirmed a suspicion of mine; I actually carry a pair of Camillus folders daily, even though one bears the "Remington" label (large, 3-blade stockman, carbon steel blades). Considering some of the other quality brands I own and have tried, this speaks volumes for Camillus. Thanks!!!
