Howdy y'all.

Looks like the forces of evil located me today. One of the busybodies at work noticed one of my babies clipped in my back pocket, and she then proceeded to spew verbal diarrhea on me about weapons. I calmly explained that my little Lum Chinese folder is a utility knife, not a "weapon," but still I ended up hiding it away in my bag as all it would take would be a complaint about her being "uncomfortable" and I could very well be unemployed.

I was pondering a solution, thinking about maybe finding someone to make me a low-profile paddle sheath for my babies (as seen on youtube et al.), but I thought even that might not be low profile enough. A flash of insight and I fished out an IWB pouch for my 10mm Glock mags. Well looky here:

I doubt I am the first person to think of this, but since I may not be the last one to think of it I decided to share it here. With this particular pouch the only bit that prints is the clip, and positioned next to the belt loop it just looks like it is the belt loop, even through the thin material of this baselayer shirt. So this looks like a solution for those situations where even a clip is too visible for the sheeple, but you still need/want the ready accessibility of clipped carry (though hidden beneath a untucked shirt hem). The only caveat is that I think I may need to convert to tip-down since you have to pinch the exposed bit of handle to draw -- negating an advantage of tip-up when drawn from a pants pocket, so that drawing tip-down will likely be quicker in this case.

The pouch pictured is a Minotaur Concealment Pouch from Comp-Tac (with whom I have no affiliation beyond being a customer). My 10mm pouch is actually a bit spacious for the Lum, and a smaller pouch would probably do as well, as likely would IWB pouches from myriad makers.

A lady really bitched about you having a POCKET KNIFE? Seriously, wtf is wrong with people these days. You could stab her with a pencil if you really wanted to.

Welcome to Corporate America where the petty have enormous power to do damage by using the right buzzwords when complaining to the right people. Stealth is survival, and in this context it is better to let her think that she's won than to lose for real. Sigh.

Not with keys, change, and a front pocket wallet in the right front pocket. And a tactical flashlight clipped to the left front pocket, and sometimes a cellphone in there too.

I find room elsewhere for all my other stuff so I can carry the same knife in the same position everyday. In my case the other items have to go so the endura I've carried since 92 can stay hidden in my RFP. I have so much muscle memory built up with this design and position I've never found any other knife types, even autos that can be brought into use quicker and with less effort.

The keys have a clip that go on the belt loop. Other stuff goes into other pockets as required. I may have another knife tucked away somewhere but I will always have , when legal, an endura and nothing else in my rfp.

BTW, welcome back Carlos. It's good to see you back. Joe/raleigh

Wow. Glad I don't work in a corporate environment. Owning your own business has its negatives, but the positives are pretty good, too. :)

I have to say that the temptation to **** with anyone who noticed my clip and gave me a hard time would be difficult to resist! Hasn't happened, yet.

I work in an office, but I work for state government. When our CCDW law was passed in the mid-90's state office buildings were exempted from legal concealed carry. Not in the law, as I recall, but by regulations written by whoever runs state office buildings. The next time the Legislature met they had a public debate and the rule makers who imposed that restriction were forced to remove it. I could legally carry a shotgun to the office if I wanted and my manager wouldn't be allowed to say anything about it on my evaluation. I love Kentucky! We have our problems, but this is one thing we got right!

Even though I could legally flaunt it without repercussions, I have tried to minimize knife 'issues' with the commie ladies in my office (there are several and I would like to stay on good terms with them) with a two-pronged approach:

1) Carrying a small 'show' knife for cutting stuff where they can see me. I'm careful who sees my full sized Spyderco.

2) When even the small knife caused one of them to start squawking I walked over to the cabinet by the fridge and pulled out the 'cake knife' they keep in there for cutting birthday cakes and such. It's a cheap chef's knife that must have come from the bargain store but it has a 14" blade. I pointed out that if I had evil intent with a knife I wouldn't even need to bring my own. I don't think she liked it, but she conceded my point.

why do i feel that the day will soon come,
when it becomes outlawed to carry a pocket super-bright 'n blinding tactical light.

Honestly I'm not a fan of in-pocket carry for knives -- I have to have it clipped. I've tested it this morning , and tip down with the IWB pouch does allow a nice and fast Spydie-drop draw-and-open FWIW.

BTW, welcome back Carlos. It's good to see you back. Joe/raleigh

Thanks Joe! Gotta visit once in a while so ya'll don't forget me entirely. ;)

Been there. It sucks.

you could pack a cold steel natchez in a sc sheath, when there is something to cut whip it out......ha ha

Im the chef at a butcher shop. Employees that are uncomfortable with knives are the ones that are soon unemployed here.

Dealing with sheaple really sucks. makes me glad I'm a construction worker. I find it much easier to deal with the animals on the construction site. even though the only blade I carry in my toolbelt is a fatmax utility blade. I noticed that the hvac guy wipped out a spyderco police model the other day, I almost went to my truck to show him my para.

It'll happen as soon as someone gets scraped up with one of those silly serrated strike bezels and it makes the news on a slow day.

....it's a darn shame when decent men catch flack for carrying a tool. Nice solution to your dilemma, however.

You ain't kidding brother. Stealth is definately survival. All Corps run scared of the dreaded "HR lawsuit". It's cheaper, quicker and easier to fire you than to incur the wrath of the petty.

I want my knives clipped also, but forced myself to find an acceptable in-pocket solution. Mine just happens to be a CRK Sebenza in one of their calfskin sheaths.

It looks like you found one that works for you.
