I have crappy pics sorry. My camera sucks except for outside and it just got dark. I scraped all of the Teflon coating off everything including the locking mechanisms and established a rough edge.

The blade logo shows up crystal clear in person but the flash makes it look like it's rubbed off. It's coming along. I'll get a better edge on it tomorrow. The knife is much easier to operate without all of the coating. Silky smooth! Thanks for looking. :)

Looks fantastic if you ask me!

I'd leave it how it is.. I only went stonewashed because I wanted it all uniform and the different materials all had a different look when satin. That and stonewashed covers scratches better. But yours is basically already stonewashed - job well done - especially like the blade... now I want to take mine to a more obtuse angle...

How'd you get it stonewashed? I was thinking if you but a blade in a tumbler for cleaning brass, that might put an interesting finish on. Just a thought. I have access to one. Anyways, yours is lookig real nice. They really operate nicely w/o the teflon huh?

I sent it to a knifemaker who had posted he could do it for someone else in a different thread. I was thinking of putting it into a rock tumbler, but it is a knife, and I don't have extensive knowledge on which abrasive media work best for what... so i thought it best to send it to an expert. If you want his email, shoot me a PM.

I find it ironic they work better without the teflon, since teflon is supposed to have a coefficient of drag of practically nil. Maybe it's just better grease/oil?

Well it sure looks awfully nice, better than mine. I spent about an hour or more since posting with a DMT aligner and put a really razor sharp edge on it and after stropping, it would shave and push cut a piece of printer paper top to botton in one clean sweep. Repeated - no burrs it slid right through again, I pronounced it "done." Much sharper than when I got it.

I can depress the lock and the blade falls and bumps on my index finger - just enough unsharpened for that and then closes. When I start the blade with the thumbstud and flick my wrist, it's open fast! I couldn't be happier with it. Thanks for inspiring my little project myowngod! :D

Great job on it, nice and even.

Looks sharp!

Thanks man, I got my spanto idea from myowngod, but I had your thread up for reassembly help today. It was a major help!!

I got a little more of the belly out from under the lower tanto intersection when I re-sharpened it after taking the pics. It looks a heck of a lot better in person than under the falsh and high resolution of the digital camera pictures.

I cant' see a flaw on it with my eye, but the camera finds every little nick or anything that's not perfect. I decided not to sand the handle, I may still, but a lot of guys posted that the Recon 1 handles "break in" nicely and get very comfy.

We'll see - it's only 3 screw to get th clip off but I'm going to give it a month or two. I appreciate your thread and kind remarks. :D

GREAT mod.
It should go out of factory like this.
Its better than tanto and better than clip point. This blade is in perfect balance with rest of design.
