Went to see my local knife broker yesterday. He went to Blade and I figured I'd see how it went and what he brought back. Added a Diskin to my want list and he hooked me and my brother up with some Blade freebies. If you saw my other recent thread, you know I was on the fence about a ZT 0770CF. Took another look at it and still couldn't buy it. Got to looking through the cases and saw some Kizers he didn't have before. He has had a couple models in stock since they came out and they were all the original tip down only models. Well he bought a bunch at Blade and I absolutely fell in love with one. The Ki401T. Ti frame lock, crazy anodizing, flipper, and a recurve compound grind that tickled my sweet spot. And for roughly the same price as the 0770CF. I had to have it.

So here it is:

After playing with it I've found it to be one of the highest quality frame locks I've owned in its price point. Definitely the smoothest non bearing flipper I've had. Lock up is great, no play anywhere. I know the blade profile won't appeal to everyone, and it will be a challenge to sharpen, but I really love this knife. My brother actually went home with a similar model. I don't know the model # but it's bronze instead of blue, clip point with no compound and his scales are flatter whereas mine are more rounded. His also has a polished blade vs my stonewashed. So far we're both very happy and I just thought I'd share.

PS- sorry for the bad photos. It's been raining for 2 days and the light sucks!

That is sweet looking! Really dig the scale color and the interesting grind.

Does the opposite side of the pivot have a torx screw or is a proprietary tool required?

And yes, it sure has been a wet weekend. Ahh the summers of Florida.

So it would seem.:foot: My powers of observation are lacking today. Thanks Wallaby!

That looks great. I haven't seen a Kizer that's sucked me in quite yet, but I think it's inevitable that one will end up in my grubby paws sooner rather than later.

I do believe you're right. I've been looking at Kizer pretty hard lately but hadn't seen a configuration that did it for me. But this one, just sitting there screamed, put me in your pocket!

Not sure if it's the angle, but yours looks slightly pointier. Do you know when these are supposed to come out?

And, while the anodized scales do look nice on the Kizer knives, I wish they'd also offer plain-titanium variations on the bigger knives as well. I think the 3" inch blade model with full titanium frames is the only one they have with a plain configuration.

I don't know if this one was a new release or just a model I hadn't seen before. I didn't see it on Kizer's site so I really don't know. I thought I saw one of the bigger knives with the scalloped scales that was just plain Ti in the shop Saturday, but thinking back I can't remember if it was plain or bronzed... Either way it didn't have the speckley ano.

Also, I found something to gripe about. Not the rock solid, 0 play lock up. Not the smooth opening. Not the very high F&F. My gripe is that it needs a filler tab for the tip down clip slot. This is purely an aesthetic gripe and not an issue is any way, but it would be a nice touch.

Nice score, man! Some of Kizer's designs come off a little "Hinderer-y" to me, but that's not a bad thing at all.

I think your model has a very unique look to it, and I too think that I'll pick up a Kizer one day to see if it's right for me. Also, that blade! Looks damn nice
