I didn't see a "new member" forum section or thread, so just wanted to drop a quick note to say hi. I am not really a knife collector, with the exception that I LOVE good kitchen knives, because I love to cook!

That being said, and the primary reason I joined here, is that my hubs died 8 years ago, and he had a small collection of knives, some of which are (from what I understand) pretty nice. I will be downsizing and getting rid of a good many things that have accumulated over the years (both his and my stuff), and have been looking for a place to sell his knives. As far as I know, you can't sell them on facebook, because of their "weapons" rules, and Craigslist is out because of the bad rep they have managed to get over the years. I have an old friend I used to work with who is in Arizona now, and I contacted him, because he loves knives, and he's a member here...he suggested that the Bladeforums might be a good place to check, because you guys love your knives, and might be interested in some of them.

So.....that's my intro...thanks for having me here, and I may even just learn something too, which is always a great thing to do!

Here's a link to the Kitchen Cutlery Forum

Here's a link to the rules for the exchange forum. That'll be helpful for selling. (There's a link to the rules section at the bottom of every page, but it's easy to miss.)

And here is a link the Bernard Levine Knife Collecting and Identification Forum. If you need help identifying an older knife, the folks who hang out in that forum are the ones most likely to be able to help.

There are lots of nooks and crannies to Bladeforums. Enjoy!

Welcome!

I'm the cook in the house and love my knives. My parents got me a set of Shun knives when we bought our first house 16 years and they are still going very strong. They are supreme.

I don't know much about knives for hunting, skinning, filleting, and survival, but I DO love my kitchen knives. This Japanese knife is one I have had since 1985. It has only needed sharpening once in all these years, and I use it almost daily. I found it in a little Oriental Gift Shop on the west side of Fort Worth, and it was inexpensive, so I really didn't expect much from it, but it's been my favorite knife ever since I started using it.

Edit to add:

Oh!....and I picked up an older wood handle Forschner a few months ago at a thrift store for a couple of bucks, and threw it in my kitchen knife drawer. I took it out yesterday and used it for cutting some raw chicken prior to cooking. WONDERFUL knife!

Welcome and Sorry for your loss. There are many good kitchen knife makers here on BF as well you may want to check out, Enjoy.
