I liked the 319 stockman I got last week so much, I went back and found another discontinued Buck to keep it company. This time its a 701 C large stockman. It was the last one, a display model without the box. Not a real problem, as the owner took a additional 10% off the price for the trouble. A real classy looking knife, edge grinds on the blades were much better than on the 319. Paid 30$ for it, which is a good deal, I think.
I have a couple of questions about this one also:
What were the years of manufacture of this model ? The tang markings on the main blade say BUCK, 701 C , USA and the shield is oval with BUCK stamped on it if that helps narrow it down.
Is this 420HC or some other stainless?
I want to get a complete BUCK EDC outfit set up, which for me includes a multitool. They have a couple of Bucktools left and I'm going back after one later this week. How does the Bucktool rate against the other top brands? I took a look at it and it seems like a nice tool, maybe not quite as beefy as some others, but it has some nice features.
This BUCK thing has a bit of a hold on me, is this the start of something ?
