Got it last night from the local knife store. Here are my first impressions:

The blade is centered, there's absolutely no play in the blade in any direction, and there are no burrs in the pivot screws. It came scary sharp.

The blade to handle ratio looks kinda funny, but the grip is great so I wouldn't change the handle.

Overall it's a light package that carries well, though I might prefer for it to sit lower. I do not have a problem with the exposed tang when accessing my RFP. It doesn't feel like it's particularly sharp edge at that point, at least to me.

As I've said before, the compression lock is easy to use and the knife can be closed one-handed without difficulty. I would add that looking at the compression lock and seeing how it works inspires confidence in the lock.

The use of a milled section in the blade fit to the lock bar to hold the blade closed instead of a little ball detent seems very smart. (Has this feature been used before, on the Military or others models?)

Opens smoothly with no "grit."

Yes, the pivot screw is eccentric and can be used to adjust the position of the compression lock bar on the tang. For those of you who had problems with play, this may be the solution.

Seems like a great little, er, medium-sized(?) knife.

Hi Keith, thanx for the comments.

I must point out that the pivot on the Para is not eccentric. It is a round pin.

That's really weird because last night I was turning the pivot and I swear I was able to adjust the lock bar/tang contact point from the left to the right. In fact, the lock bar started out fairly close to the side opposite the lock bar, hence my urge to try to adjust it. By fiddling with the pin I seemed to be able to move the lock bar to a position fairly close to the lock bar side, and then readjust it so that it hit the center of the tang. I must be dreaming?! Is there even a slight chance that this pin is not perfectly round? I'll look at it again tonight, but, shoot, Sal would know. STRANGE!

BTW, as I said there was no play in the blade. Nonetheless it was fairly easy to turn the pin by using a wrench on one side. Both sides turned together.

:o :o :o Okay, it was all fantasy. I DID see the lock bar change position -- it did it again this afternoon -- but it was only because I wasn't opening it up with the same degree of force each time.

Anyway, I read in the Spyderco forum that the stop pin is eccentric. I hope that's true because I think it would be a good feature.
