I have carried pocket folders of some sort most of my life. Many of them were Case knives. In the past year or so, I have fell in love all over again with Case slippies. Living 45 minutes from Lebanon, MO and 30 minutes from Branson, MO helps with that attraction.... 2 [large Case retailer] outlets within 45 minutes of my home. I remember my father having a Case Baby Butterbean, so I was drawn to that pattern. I found a pocket worn red one in ss online, and have been carrying it most days for the past year or so.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I was up in the outlet in Lebanon and saw some of the display boxes on sale. I bought one, brought it home, put my 13 Case knives in it, and my passion for these little knives was renewed. In my quest for more info, I came across this forum. Since I already carried a pretty small knife (the Baby BB) every day, I was of course drawn to all the threads about the Peanut as an EDC. I never owned a Peanut, so this past weekend on a trip to Branson I bought a CV Peanut in dark red bone.

I took it home and last night gave it a good going over. It has excellent fit and finish, and the CV blades sharpened up to what I described to my wife as "scary sharp" with little work. I don't know if its the better fit and finish, the easy to sharpen CV steel, or the more heft of the 2 spring design, but I hate to admit I am liking this knife better than my Baby BB. I also really like the half-stops. I'm going to carry it for the next month or two, and at that point decide if it will take over the lead as my EDC or if I will go back to the Baby BB.

With the Baby BB coming out of the vault recently I am still very excited to start filling out my collection with them too. But I really like the way this peanut feels. In the office, I am the guy whom everyone knows carries a pocketknife so when someone has a package to open, they come to me. :) I can't wait to impress someone with this razor sharp little gem.

Tkill, thanks for the nice report. I bought a yellow CV a while back and recently added an orange with a bail.

From one new guy to another, welcome to the forum.

PS. Stich, really enjoyed your post showing you chopping down the tree with the Peanut. Really enjoyed that thread........

Don't forget to sacrifice some fruit with it so that the grand high muckba will let you into the cult!

Welcome to the cult, my son.

Absolutely love the red bone on your nut. Sometimes Case gets the dye a bit off, and looks a bit pink, or too dark. But yours has captured a nice blood red tone of bone. Very very nice!:thumbup:

Of course, we have to do something about that raw, unblemished, shiny blade. You defiantly have to go sacrifice some apples and an orange or two to get a patina going. And perhaps some limes for a gin and tonic, or in the neck of a nice cold Corona. A nice soft gray will look great with that red bone.

Thanks, I thought so too. I had this one, a chestnut bone, and a yellow all out on the counter to choose from at the store. I think those were the only choices in CV. The red really caught my eye.

Today the little peanut opened a couple of packages and cut up some bell peppers for supper. A quartered apple may have to be on the menu tomorrow for lunch.

That's a real gem IMO. CV, and their red bone is a close second to yellow delrin/CV in terms of popularity here. The Peanut looks great in red, CV just adds to the character with it's patina.
