Just saw somebody posted a very nice "new to me" thread. Here's my new Spydies over the last 10 days or so.

At the top is a Native with a smooth G10 scales and S90V blade. Really nice Native. I like G10 but don't like that it usually shreds pockets. Will have to test this wet to see if it's slippery.

The middle is of course the M4 Para 3. This is my first Para 3. Very nice knife. It will absolutely require a deep carry clip for me to use and I'll likely get some 3rd party MF scales. Unlike most other I'm fine with the look of the natural G10, especially with the black blade. It's just a pocket destroyer but very grippy handle. One other minor issue with the Para 3 for me is the small finger choil. It works, but compared to the Sage or a few others it's not as comfortable. Trade offs...

The last one is a CF Maxix with a laminated CPM154/S90V blade. This thing is fantastic and it flies open and drops shut very well. Just great blade action. The only thing I don't like about this knife is the size in my pocket. It's just large enough to not be able to get my hand past it seamlessly like I can with a Sage.

These are all very good and I'd be perfectly happy carrying any of them as my only knife. I'd probably still chose my Sage knives first. I know the Sage series is about locks not steels, but I'd love to see a Sage 1 or Sage 4 with M390, M4, and ZDP.

Love that Native 5, that was one I was after. Thanks for the thoughts and pics .

Great scores. I really like that Native 5 also. It is a little smooth compared to what I usually get but the gimping helps a lot plus its so light weight and I love the color. Congrats man

I recently bought a Native 5 Maxamet and ended up nicking my thumb checking out the sharpness of the blade, and I didn't even realize I was nicked until later. That knife has a truly razor edge out of the factory. I have never seen another knife so sharp when new.

I've thought for many years now that all the NATIVE models were underrated. Particularly the ones made in GOLDEN because I literally tried to destroy one and I still have it and still use it on rough jobs occasionally>> it is a 440V, SE version. For their size the NATIVE is a really tough folder.

Just got an M4 Native and am loving it, though I wish I had cause to put it to real work. Only thing - the original owner decided to throw a polished edge on it, as Gator said and from my experience Spydies have an amazing factory edge so I'm a little bummed out. But I bought it to be a user so I look forward to its first sharpening.

I put a polished edge on some of my Spydies. When the factory edge gets dull and they need to get sharpened the factory edge will be gone anyway. I've had to sharpen most of mine, except Maxamet. I probably need a diamond strop for that way.

And I agree the Native is great knife. Back lock works well but is not my favorite lock to use. The primary reason I'm carrying the Sages more lately.
