Hello all! I have two questions. Where can I get a Tom Mayo TNT. Every place I have checked has none, and a two month or so wait period. I hate waiting... :( Tom, Help...

If I get ahold of one, how is Talonite/stellite sharpened? What is the best way?

If any info you have can not be posted on the forum, feel free to email me at drew_awc@hotmail.com .

Thanks in advance for all replies!

:)

Drew

Also, what is your opinion of the Tighe-Pan with stellite. Looks cool!

Hi Drew,
First of all welcome to the forums. Hope you enjoy this place and the cast of characters.
Now about this waiting stuff. It is not all that bad and as a matter of fact it can be something positive. The thing about these knives that these individuals make is that these guys just ain't factories and when a makers work is in demand there is gonna be a wait. :D

My thoughts are that you should get in touch with Tom, enjoy the new friend you will end up making come up with a twist on your own personal TNT. (maybe a specific blade style or even a hole pattern or no holes at all). In a few months you will have a knife Tom made for you and the wait will mean little compared to the knife that you have.

Just my thoughts on waiting.
Regards,
Gus

Gus, you sure have an optimistic viewpoint when it comes to Tom and "a few months" wait. ;) When I ordered my TNT a few weeks ago, Tom's website listed his backlog as approximately 12 - 15 months. Just checked: now it's 15 - 18 months.

I would also recommend you get in touch with Tom and orer exactly what you want. Afterall, this is a custom knife, and if you talk with Tom you can get exactly what you want. The wait is worth it, so I am told(I am still waiting), plus you get a knife desgined to meet your needs.

Erik

P.S. When I ordered mine in Janruary the wait was listed as 9 months.
