I received this just today from fellow forumite Bladite. To my understanding it is a Murali-made 12 1/4" Ang Khola in horn. Having researched Murali on this subforum's links, it would seem that he has since moved on.

I really like this knife. It's a stark contrast from my EDC, a small Sebenza, in regard to it's "manufacture." And I like it. I love precision, but I love handmade things just as much.

At any rate, I'm looking forward to using it. No wall hanger here; I don't see how any could be when you consider what a value they are. I'm confident it will make a nice camping buddy and bedside table companion.

Please feel free to chime in with more info. I've spent some time in this subforum lately, and have enjoyed reading your insights. I have the feeling this will not be my last HI.

Many thanks, all.

Professor.

that is quite a handsome knife! yoda there seems to be impressed as well

The 12" AK is one of the unsung heroes of the AK line up. Many of us simply get so ingrained with khuks that anything short of 15" is "too small". However, a 12-13" AK is a formidable camp/trunk knife. It's packable and light weight, yet stronger than most anything else out there.

I love these "little guys":D

Welcome to the fold;)

My first HI was a 12 inch AK by Sher (the Tiger), an excellent blade. A true "pocket battleship". Nice snag Professor, welcome to the gang!

Congrats on your purchase!

Those "little" knives are a real joy and virtually indestructible (as seen in controversial YouTube videos from the past ).
I never got into them as the handle is just too small for me and leaves me wishing for a guard or grip tape, but on top of that a 15" or a 16.5" AK buys you a lot more chopping power if you don't mind the bulk and weight. There is a kuk for everyone, collect them all, then give them away as presents for friends or as an heirloom to the kids.

P.S. Personal question that you are welcome to ignore: which field of knowledge do your "profess"?

Edit: needed to finish a sentence that never got finished ;)

Per your question: "P.S. Personal question that you are welcome to ignore: which field of knowledge do your 'profess'?"

No one's ever asked before, thanks.

I'm a counselor by trade. I got the nickname "Professor" when I had finished my graduate program and couldn't find a job. I went to my Dean and said, look man, I've spent a lot of time and money here (I worked 25hrs a week as a mental health counselor while attending grad school from 96-99), and you're gonna help me find a job!

The receptionist for the dept was out on FMLA for the summer, and he put me to work in her role. He told me to watch the fax machine for companies faxing in ads for graduating counselors. I was supposed to post them up, which I did, but not before taking the op to apply and interview first. I got a job within a month and stayed with that company for 10 years. That's what he did for me. Great guy.

Anyway, my drinking buddies nicknamed me "Professor" since I officially worked for the school for a whole month. So, I profess nothing, my friend. :)
