There is a taped report of a news conference with Capt. Dr. Shahi, down the right side of the page. It is two parts, in an MP3 version of what must have been a hand-held pocket recorder. He gives the first survivor's account of the shootings. He is the son-in-law of Dhirendra, the king's youngest brother.

Tape quality, WebTV and his accent combine to make it difficult, but it might be interesting to those who can hear it better. His father-in-law lived on the Isle of Wight, seperate from most royal duties and involvements, and was home for a visit. His wife, an IOW native, and 12-year old daughter were not with him on this trip. According to the IOW County Press article, he was listed on his resident papers as "business owner", and under "parents" was simply "HRM King of Nepal". Not a very high-profile type of person, by IOW standards.
