Marcelo and I took my wife's Mother's husband for a nice hike today. Hmm maybe we'll just call him my stepfather in-law. hmm, how about Alberto. Yeah that’s easier:thumbup::D

Anyway, the in-laws are from Venezuela and usually only visit in the summer. He has seen snow, but this is the 1st time he seen frozen lakes. It was pretty funny watching him trying to break through every frozen pond we came across with a walking stick.:D

We had a great time despite the weather, and came upon a great spot for a fire. So we warmed up with some hot cocoa.

All of these pics were taken by Alberto, besides the ones with him in it...

Excellent pics, looks like Alberto was having a blast

I can't believe all the snow cover you have there ... is that a stone fireplace

Yup, Had the chimney going on and all..

This was in Huntington State Park which is about 5 minutes from the house. I am not sure of the story, but I believe most of this area was farmland 100 years ago, with a quarry here and there. I believe this chimney to be one of the remains..

Nice pictures Tony. That last shot looks like superman did a snow angel :D

Cool pics Tony, I bet with him being from Venezuela that seemed a totally alien environment. Glad I'm not the only one who finds random stone fireplace ruins in the woods.

Nice pics Tony. Looks alot like MO right now....Cold and snow covered. Im gettin out for a birthday hike tommarow so Ill snap some pics. I havent posted any hike pics for awhile....

I have to say, Alberto was a trooper. It was very cool to see how dazzled he was with the environment through which we were walking. He kept saying "They're never going to believe this back home.". It was a fun walk. We took a mountain biking trail that was full of switchbacks-for-no-reason, which was simultaneously gorgeous and frustrating at times as we passed each other going in opposite directions. The payoff was some kick butt hot cocoa by a nice hearth with great company.

Hey GS, a coincidence - GP - Doc, ???

Looks like a good day to be out in the woods. I love to see peoples take on snow that don't see it on a regular basis.
