A month or so ago I traded a well used Nighthawk for a S&W HRTDR. It's a bigger, much heavier 440-C camp knife, with a recurve blade and a crappy handle, but will be fine once properly modified. Pretty good knife actually. The long and short of it is I had to get a new Nighthawk. I just had to fill that hole in my lineup with another TacDaddy. :D I wish I could get ahold to a discontinued mini-hawk. With the proper sheath I think it would replace my Yari for concealed carry.

The Buck Nighthawk IS an excellent knife (for the money), but I'd sure like to see Buck bring back the Mini-Nighthawk, and also come out with a "Maxi-Nighthawk" with a 9 inch blade...THAT would be a KNIFE!...That would be like the SOG trio; Seal Pup, Seal 2000, and Tigershark...Small, medium, and large.

Don't worry guys. I carried the 650 (nighthawk)in my first years in the USMC and I loved it, so I have endeavored to bring some newer versions out, both short and long. Maybe by January, but we will see. I will let you know as I get more info.

Hi J Rummerfield. Some comments from the peanut gallery, whether or not you mind:D (pun intended) is up to you.

I have medium to large, thick hands and the Nighthawk handle is too long with the finger contours too far apart. Of all the people I know, one has not felt the same way. We call him Link, as in missing link, and he is 6-3, 250+.

If you go maxi-hawk(8-9"), please don't make the steel any thicker. If you go mini-hawk(5.5"), please make the steel thinner.

A better sheath would be a big plus.

Don't get me wrong. I am a huge Buck fan, and I've raised my sons accordingly...but I know what I know;)

Thank you for the imput, we appreciate it all.

We are leaning towards a slab handled full tang version with a kydex sheath. Will let you know as we go.

Thanks again,

Josh
