(with many many thanks to Waynorth!)
I've been on the hunt for one of these Scagel #1's for quite some time. I recently read where Charlie sold a NIB model to another one of our members (I can't seem to find that thread currently, so my apologies). I was happy another enthusiast got to find one, but I'll admit that a wee bit of jealousy may have been present.
Fast forward a couple weeks to the GEC Rendezvous. I was VERY fortunate to be able to spend some time visiting with Charlie, whose enthusiasm for these wonderful traditional knives is absolutely contagious. After I finished snatching Charlows off his table and hurling money at him, we got a chance to sit and talk about our respective collections for a bit. I casually mentioned that I'd be very interested if he ever came across another one of these Scagels. Wait, what's that? You have one that was a user for you? You don't say...
To make a long story short, a little knife swapping took place, and I wound up trading in to this, sight unseen. A week and a half later, this beauty showed up in my mailbox. Wow. I just can't stop handling this one. I've always been a sucker for stag, and in my opinion, the scales on this one are just perfect.
So thank you again, Charlie, for allowing me to check another knife off my dream list. I'm glad you were happy with our trade deal, and I'm THRILLED with the Scagel!
