I finished up another of my Search & Rescue knives for a member here on Blade Forums.

The buyer requested a few adjustments from my original design. He wanted the handle a bit longer (4.5"), the blade a bit shorter (Under 4"), and a standard sheath (no horizontal carry). I think it turned out nice!

Specs:
Steel: 3/16" 1080
Handle: 4.5"
Blade: 3.9" (Tip to Choil)
Handle: Garolite Liners, Cocobolo Scales
Pins: 1/4" Aluminum tubing, 1/8" Nickel Pins
AcraGlas Epoxy used to attach Scales & Liners

HT Info:
3 thermal cycles, cooled to room temp. Heat to critical (1475 - 1500 F), Immediate Quench in AAA, Temper @ 400 F for an Hour (x2).

Thanks for Looking. Comments Welcome!

Rugged looking knife and a handsome sheath to match! I'd say the buyer is a lucky man.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone, I still have a very long way to go. Fit and Finish are my bane (mainly the Ricasso area). I can only hope Marcelo!

WOW that sheath is gorgeous! How did uou do the middle section if you dont mind me asking

cbr900 - Sure you can ask. There is a hand tool that imprints that pattern in the leather, Looks like a gold nugget(for lack of a better example). Just wet the leather wait a bit, then hammer away.

Here is what the stamp looks like when tapped once:

Thanks for the info! I havnt seen that pattern stamp but Im gonna go look for it now lol. How did you get the dye darker on the ridges of the bumps from that stamp?

My understanding is that because the pressed in portion is compressed it will not take the dye as well as the raised portions. So it just works out that way, whether you like it or not! Good Luck

Very nice knife. That handle looks really comfortable and I'm a sucker for spear point blades
