Well my over priced "pos" alienware died so Im gunna build my own like I should have in the first place. I do like to game alot and edit videos and such so I ask the Age old question, Intel or AMD? Im looking at either the I5 3750k or the AMD FX 8350. Ive looked on a few forums and it seems everyone jumps on the intel bandwagon just because everyone else is, and theres a few obvious intel biased sites when they have Intel ads all over the place. But I want to know which one is better for what I need. Im leaning towards the cheaper price tag on the amd with more cores .. But Ive heard the Intel is also a beast

I'm well out of the tech biz, now, but I still build my own systems. My latest one, built for the wife, was a quad-core AMD with 8Gb of RAM, a 1 Gb video adapter and 500 GB HDD. I put all of that into one of the shoebox cases and got her a 20" flatscreen. She hasn't even turned it on in almost a year... *initiate tech rage*

I've always gone with AMD, since you get more processor for the money. I grew disenchanted with Intel procs back when I was a desktop support tech and I noticed that, although we had a pretty even split of AMD/Intel procs in our boxes, we got fewer complaints about the AMD boxes bogging down and getting sluggish. I don't know if it's just a difference in the architecture that uses cycles more efficiently on the AMDs or whether it was all in my head, but I feel as though I get a noticeably better response from AMD chips during things like graphics rendering (I do a bit of photoshop work for friends on photos and such, along with KPT renders for graphic arts stuff) and better frame rates (when I was still playing WoW) when using identical graphics adapters. This is my $.02, ymmv.
