Here is another modified Chinaman that I have completed , it is shown together with my much loved , and well used Gerber Back-Paxe (first version) , that was cleaned up for the picture.
The Hatchet was made from a cheap Chinese axe , using hand tools only , (Hack-saw , various files , sandpaper and LOTS of time).
The entire hatchet weighs about 22 ounces , including the handle.
I still have to remove all the fine scratches and refine the cutting edge , the cutting edge is rather nicely hardened.
Cheap Chinese is the only game in town where I live , but one uses what one has , or can get , not so ?.
The 2 Pound HB axe-head will have its cutting-edge re-profiled and a new handle made and fitted when I find my lost "Round-Tuit"
.
Thanks for looking.
