soooo since the bk11 is getting hooked up battle creek style with wood handles in a short while, i figured a good way to pass the time would be to mod it and get it ready for a permanent accessory. So here ya go, more pics to look at, nothing special just something to pass the time.....

stripper. look how the coating just falls off. and yes i mod during dinner time

After slight buffing to get it to satin finish

leave it to me and my spotty workshop, i went for jimping on the spine and since i dont have a vice, i did it free hand with a dremel. I got 3 done and the 4th one walked on me. so disappointing at the time, but since its a user and not a looker i dont mind

Really like the bluing finish so i went with that. here it is submerged in the blue for an even first coat.

and after many applications and sanding and buffing, here is the result. I didnt really pay the tang much attention since the wood scales are going to cover it up any way

man I just love a strip tease :0 especially in blue......

no worries leave as is, I can dress up the jimping a little.....

jb weld does wonders ...... j/k......

Love the blue job. I need to get around to doing it to some of mine.

If you take a rat tail file, you could widen and straighten the jimping out. Not that it matters, but if it bothers you its an option.

Shnitzle, beer, and knives......ahhhh....

What kinda stripper did you use? The crap I use kinda sux.

thanks guys. I haven't got the time to test the bluings durability but will do this weekend.
Pig, Yeh im going to have to borrow some files from work since I have limited number of useful stuff in my garage.
The stripper I used was this stuff, it too about 8 minutes to get the coating to fall off in the pic. I leave it in for about 12 and then the towel that dries it removes most if not all the coating

Also the blue really darkens overnight, ill have to take another pic to show how much it actually darkens when it sits overnight

My hawk head definitely got darker over night. I used the same bluing. Did you apply oil, and let it sit over night, per the instructions? That's the way I did it.

I just let it sit overnight, then oiled it in the morning. I love this look, I can't believe we don't see more mods like this its really cool looking finished product. Its funny to work with though the first few times, it blackens real fast and I didn't expect that so im like "no no no oh crap crap crap!" I had thought I ruined em but they turned out well. I also tried doing two at once, and if you let one sit longer than 1 minute with water on it it turns bright yellow and that also scared the crap out of me

Looks like that industrial sized ice pick would benefit from a sharpening.

And having your emergency information on a thumb drive is a good idea, but it might not hold up so well attached to the ice pick. :D

Great job, I think I'm going to try stripping and blueing on some of my knives, thanks so much
