another overnighter with bearthedog last week...my h&b forge shawnee tomahawk...started raining the day before the trip so everything was soaked as can be. we chopped and split a lot of wood and this 'hawk continues to impress me...so much so i didn't even miss using a belt knife.
bcusa 10'x10' tarp. i brought a closed cell foam pad for my hammock but it dropped to the low 40's and i got really chilled (even though i had a down jacket, beanie and a kifaru woobie at that) so i ended up sleeping on the ground...felt more like december than june!
bcusa mest to the rescue! really glad i brought it...it let us keep the fire to a reasonable size and not risk dying out from the constant rain.
iron chef reuben on the grill while i got started on the booze - no more maker's mark...this time it was bulleit rye.
this was so good i just had to take a picture of it - no need to add spam, bacon or anything to add extra flavor. in fact, i was half way finished when reuben reminded me of my habanero flakes and that just kicked it up a notch.
