I haven't been around (or in the shop much), but wanted to post another piece here for you fine folks to look at.

It's about 10 1/2" of blade made from a very bold 19 layer twist of 1095 and 15n20. Fittings are mild steel, ebony throat spacer, and Camatillo handle. I've got to get this one off later this week to have a sheath made. After it comes back there will very likely be an update here with the "completed set" pictures.

Let me know what you folks think.

Beautifull,i really like this damascus pattern.

I really enjoy making the really large twists as well. The only problem is that for the most part I can only do it while I'm demonstrating and can get some extra hands to help out. This one was twisted with the bar at around 1 1/2" square. It took two guys holding the vise steady and two guys on the twisting wrench to do the twist! With a properly mounted vise (tough at a hammer-in) it would only take the two guys twisting, but still that means I can't do it alone in my shop :)

Thanks for the kind words so far folks!

Nice having that extra horse power. Good looking knife and I really like that low layer pattern!

Just a suggestion for twisting. If you have the room, you could add a pipe thread machine to your shop. Quickly chuck one end of your bar in the pipe chuck and put a pipe wrench on the far end. Then turn the machine on. The pipe wrench will go down against the body of the machine and stop the unchucked end from turning. The chuck will continue turning and twist the bar for you!

Very nice knife and I like the way that low-layer stuff came out!

I would have liked to see a little more swell at the butt of the handle. Perhaps it's just the perspective of the photo but it looks as if the mid-swell is larger than the butt?

I'd like to see some pictures of it. It looks great in that one and it would be interesteng to see a straight on side view and top view.

Nice damascus for sure.

Peter

Thanks for the kind words folks. I'll make sure to get some more photos of this one once it has a sheath and post them here.
