Folks, I have the plant shown below (click the thumbnail for a much larger picture) labeled as "Indian Cucumber" for some reason. Now, I'm not so sure. Usually there's the second stalk coming up from the leaves with the three leaves (petals?) at the top. Can anybody ID this for me? The picture was taken in late April of 2004, in New Hampshire if that helps. Thanks.

If it sprouts a white flower on the top, I know it as an indian potato. Depending on the season, you can find some good sized tubers! Not much in the flavor department, but mixed with a stew, they are great camp food! Hope That helps!

Is that your pic? If so, just go and dig up the root.

Here is a bunch of Indian Cucumber, some with the 2nd stalk, some with out.

Wow, that's quite a patch of indian cucumber. Interesting -- I hadn't noticed that some don't have the second stalk. Maybe that's what my picture is, after all. Thanks.

I took that picture 6 years ago, so I doubt I'd be able to find the plant, even if it's still alive. I'll go look more carefully at some of them in my woods and see if they match my picture.

Yeah, I took that picture last weekend while camping in DAR State forest with my family and friends. The forest was litteraly blanketed with the plant. The kids dug up probably a hundred plants and were eating them like candy.
