Can anyone tell me if the entire knife is made from stainless steels or if any of the parts are coated carbon steel, or anything other than stainless? I live close to the beach and went down to the beach yesterday. Today, I noticed rust around the front barrel spacer. And upon disassembly and cleaning, there was also rust up under the belt clip around the screw holes as well. The rust on the clip cleaned up pretty easy, but the front barrel spacer wont clean up even with brasso. If these parts arent stainless, can I get stainless or anodized aluminum parts to replace anything thats not stainless?

I can't help with replacement parts but I would suggest getting a Spyderco salt knife. They are made to be impervious to salt water. There are several models in H1 steel and soon there will be models in LC200N steel.

Coat your pm2 scales, pivot etc with edci formula, mineral oil, frog lube Wd40 etc.

Otherwise as these guys suggest a salt series or a titanium handles knife (oil the metal bits still).

Use some bar keepers friend to clean up the current rust.

Ill also add that it inadvertently took an extended dip in the water while in my pocket. The S110V blade, liners, and pocket clip hasnt even shown so much as a single speck of rust. Seems to be just the screws and the 1 barrel spacer. Oops...

it's really where the corrosive materials stay hidden where you have to worry. . So pivots and under the scales too. PM2 has some gaps between be liners where lube and saltwater or whatever get trapped and could rust

If I were you, I'd disassemble and clean everything off with soap & water + a brush, maybe even a solvent if you want. Then before putting it all back together I'd take a marine tuf-cloth and wipe down everything (excluding hardware threads), every surface, nook and cranny. Should be pretty corrosion resistant after.

Just wash it off thoroughly and treat any rust-susceptible parts with BreakFree CLP. Then don't worry about it.
