A big thanks to Jay at EDC Canada for keeping things local. Most of my Emersons have come direct from the man, but it's nice to have a Prestiege Dealer close to home. Awesome guy.

Came home to a package yesterday, and low and behold, a gorgeous new Horseman SF was waiting. There is an upside to buying yourself birthday gifts on behalf on your loved ones, but there are also some drawbacks. My better half never buys a bad gift, but she also has a mean way of withholding them until the actual day.

Naturally I had to 'verify' to make sure the knife was in proper working order. Blade centered, wave opening is fine, scales feel good and even, pivot is okay. I'd say this took me a few minutes to say the least ;)

This is my first 2012 Emerson, and I will say that F&F has gotten better. Not sure how I feel about the new Pivot, but it is for the better. I will say that the g10 got a heck of a lot grippier. I swear this thing could stick to glass.

Thankfully I have my other Emersons to keep in pocket, but I'm already loving the ergos on the Horseman. Next I have to track down a plain edged SOCFK in Satin. Happy Birthday to me!

Emerson started using a pivot that domes outside of the G10, with a slot that can be tuned with a coin (as it's a little wider). Apparently the switch also helped to mitigate the issue of a loosening pivot...so I've heard ;) We'll have to wait and see, especially once I start waving it.

I'll be sure to drop him a line, Rolf. Lets just hope (well, at least my wallet does), that I don't end up strolling in there to by myself an early Birthday gift.

Did it come with globs of red loctite on the pivot? The last one I bought, a 15 was boogered up bad with red loctite.

Ha ha. No worries. You're right though -- all I need to do is track myself down that SOCFK.

That's strange, Rev. No LT on this one, but I only backed the pivot screw out a bit, so the rest is unknown. As long as I'm not waving my Emersons like a madman, I typically try and avoid Loctite. But now I understand why they're saying 'pivot won't come loose as easily'. Sneaky sneaky.

I wonder if they are compatible with pre 2012 Emersons and if you can order them.

I'm not quite sure, as they new pivots are embedded in the G10, as opposed to resting on top. It would all be a matter of how much length is on the screw.

I just got a 2012 black mini commander the new pivot is verynice the black wore off of the domed pivot on my 2009 horsman sf

Oh ya, and a totally different finish on the new pivot ;). I like how mine have worn down, but they do stick out like a sore thumb.
