I don't know about the SF models, but is there any specific reason there are two holes in the bottom of the SH?

Yes, you can pin it at two points for stability when making a spear out of it :D

Maybe it took away some weight from the rear for balance..?

Or for a lanyard AND a D guard?

looks cooler?

maybe jerry melted down all the spare infi from the hole cutouts and made more fsh's? :D

Cause everybody knows two holes are better than one

The original Steel Heart I had available a bolt-on steel D-guard with sharpened outer edge (Holy Tearer), requiring two holes.

Also, the hole closest to the blade is a Busse registered trademark, and lots of knives have a rear lanyard hole. Thus, two holes.

I also have a prototype Steel Heart I that was designed for a D-guard that could be unbolted at the front hole and swung to the rear, pivoting on the rear hole, to act as a wire cutter with the back of the handle.

Or maybe Jerry just had a lot of extra holes that he needed to find a use for.

I think he meant the 2 at the back, not the talon and the rear

so the lanyard hole one, and the hole in the skull crusher

:D :D :D

bottom hole (rear) = d gaurd teather
top hole (skull crusher (rear)) = wrist lanyard

talon hole (by choil) = d gaurd teather

you may be thinking "wrist lanyard? crazy talk.", but if you working in tree's, waaay up, or if your diving, dropping it may mean the last you ever see of it. and it has a lot of aesthetic appeal

tube fasteners serve several purposes - they are a flaired out peice of tubing, wich is somewhat easier then 2 sided bolts (6 peices per knife, plus epoxy/threadlock on each). they are flaired out under extreme pressures so the handle slabs are actually constantly pushed into the tang. in order to fail the metal itself has to give way, rather then an epoxy or threading. and they can be used as tie downs when using it as a pole arm/spear. they can also be used as tie down spots for cord wrapping the handle to give extra grip/widen the existing grip.
