I have looked until my eyes are sore trying to decide on a GEC to try out. Would you consider either or both of these 2 knives to be representitive of what GEC is doing these days? If you own either or both of these knives could you give a quick word on what you like or don't like about them? If you own or have used either of these and had problems would you be so kind to explain? Both are in Antique Black Jigged Bone. If you have any GEC patterns in this scale could you comment on that? Thanks in advance. If you wish to comment in a PM on a preferred GEC dealer that would be appreciated. Most of the places I usually buy from seem to not carry the GEC knives.

Just got the single blade Weaver Jack 56 in Antique Black

PROS: Excellent build quality, this bone is beautiful especially if you get one that has some lighter patches as contrast, marbled effect, jigging is nice. Smooth opener, strong but not a nail nuker, great snap. Great medium size, not too bulky

CONS. curved pruner style blade may not suit all tastes, but as a keen gardener, I'm in favour of it, it slits sacks open very well.

The dealers on the GEC website are good as they have accurate pictures (mainly) I've used 4 of them and been pleased

I don't have a #25/26 yet, but I can say the #56 fits nicely in the hand in both directions (Dogleg Jack and Geppetto whittler)

I have and like both patterns, however I think for an every day carry knife the 26 is hard to beat. If you have large hands the 25/26s from GEC might not suit you. As mentioned by willgoy, I believe the h'bill blade of the 56 is limited for all around use.

Thanks for your input here. Gardner and tree guy here so the semi-hawkbill has an appeal.

Thanks biglmbass. I may be able to put that blade to good use here and there. LOL
