Another Reason BK9 is King

I've seen a lot of 'chopper' threads about the BK9 and it definitely is a choppin' beast. But I used it this weekend for a job I do every year and it made that job the easiest ever. I live on a couple acres and have some beautiful burr oaks, red oaks and a lot of cedar elms. Every year these trees grow lots of volunteers sprouts and small branches off the main trunk and limbs, filling up the inside of the trees. I think the trees look better and are healthier when all of that inside growth is removed so every year I get on ladders with hand clippers, a pair of loppers and a small limb saw and spend a few hours cleaning them up. This weekend I traded all of those tools in for one - a BK9. It was the perfect tool for the job. Most of these volunteers are small and one small accurate flick is all it takes with the 9. The 9 also extended my reach and was safer since instead of standing on a ladder with two hands on a pair of loppers, I could hold the ladder or a limb and with short swings get all the work done. 1-2" branches, no problem, one or two whacks and they were gone. Thanks Ethan for an awesome tool.

I've always said that the 9 isn't The King because it's good at chopping. It's The King because it's good at everything. Or at least a wide range of things.

You need a BK9. You can't not have a 9.

Since I got it, I've been using my 7 for the same tasks on my orange, cherry and japanese maple.
SO much better than pruners and loppers. If I had bigger/stronger trees, I'd upgrade to a 9.
