I went out to the movies with some friends tonight. (Saw "Requiem for a Dream" - again. I've been called masochistic on this count - a charge I'd have a hard time denying, but I digress) Someone had forced a CD into the car CD player while there was already one in it, and neither would eject. The woman who owned the car said that she needed pliers or something to get the CD's out. Having my Supertool handy, I offered to try to help. The slot where the CD's went was way too skinny for the ST pliers to fit in. Her eyebrow tweezers & the tweezers from my SAK wouldn't fit in there either. We were about to give up and bring it in to the shop when I got another idea- I slid one knife into the slot above the CD's and another below them, pinched them together, and pulled the CD's out. With only one knife this wouldn't have been possible. The two knives I used were a blue inlay Native & 350bt (who says that BM & Spyderco can't get along?). Okay, so the 710hs, G-10 Harpy, D2 Sifu, & D.R. Good Custom I also had on me weren't necessary for this operation, I could have needed them for something.
Having those 2 knives turned out not only to be handy, but economical as well. The shop could charge as much as $100 to get the CD's out. I got those knives for less than $100 each. Had the money gone to the shop, there would be nothing to show for it. But, wisely previously invested in knives, the (same amount of) money paid off, and I have knives to keep.
And now the woman who owns the car, and was very happy I had knives & a flashlight with me, wants me to help pick out a knife for her!
