I hate to waste material...

So I end up with stuff like this...

small1

small2

Four inches OAL with a 1.5 inch blade...1/8 inch 1084, convex grind, filework and black moly coat, with Elk scales and Micarta pins...Woodland camo Concealex sheath (sorry for the poor pictures)...

As I read the thread about knifemaking burnout, let me say I can feel your pain...Dell and I put out about 1000 knives over a 16 month period...

Can I suggest that making of some small knives for fun? The above knife is not very fancy but only took a half days work to put together and was heat treated and tempered overnight...

This way you can see some results and have some fun without taking on really big projects...

And everyone who see it says, "How cute!":)

How cute! (Sorry)

I do think it is a very interesting little knife. At first glance, it reminded me of my TOPS Wolf Pup, but that only lasted about a second. I like the length of the blade in relationship to the handle. Looks like it is easy and comfortable to grip well.

Am not quite so sure about the ramp running up to the spine. Guess I need to think about it a little. Does appear that it could amplify the pressure one could exert with the thumb, when cutting tought stuff. Very cute knife.

Bugs3x...I had to think about what you said for a sec until I looked at the photo's again...

Try this one:

Again, sorry for the hasty photo of dubious quality...

As you can see, no thumb ramp...What you saw was the very strong shadow of the elk scale...

Tom...The only leftover from this were dust! The challange was to take a 4 inch scrap and make a working knife from it...It's only a two finger hold, but it works just fine and is very comfortable and easy to cut with...Hey, I lucked out!

As always, pushing the limits of knifemaking! :D
