Found another version of the Schrade Tennessee River Trapper with what appears to be either Cocobolo or Rosewood scales $11 at WalMart with no box.

I think that one will become my EDC and The Amber Jigged Bone will become my Sunday Goin' to Meetin' knife.

Very nice. I am glad to see that I am not the only one who was excited by the TRT.

Considering I have $28 invested between the two, i think I made out very well.

These are built better than the Uncle Henrys, and the only problem I have now is which one to carry, as of right now they both rest at the bottom of my pocket, I'll just have to see which one I reach for more.

So far if I want to show it off I grab the Bone handled one, but if I'm going to use it for something that might nick it scratch the scales I tend to reach for the Rosewood one. :D It's nice having to choose.

You did do very well. I have never seen the wooden handled one before. What was the model number on the box?

No box with that one so I don't have a model #. :(

I'm still tryin' to figure out what kind of wood it is.

T.,
The wood reminds me the stabilized rosewood handles of the SEARS Craftsman knives (made by Camillus?).
Nice find, never seen this trapper around here in St. Louis.

T. Erdelyi,
I have one of the wooden handled models in a box. It is a 296WC. On the back of the box it says it has a "Crimson Birch Handle Treatment." It looks like a laminate to me, designed to look like Birch, and dyed.....well, crimson (red).
Guessing at the pattern #.....2 blades...96 (Trapper) pattern...wood scales...crimson.

Not positve, but I'm going with it anyway. :D

By the way, it's a nice knife, as you have mentioned.

Bill

I wonder how many variations of this knife there are, IIRC someone said it was made specifically for WalMart.
